What is the amount of the scholarship?
Awards range from $500 to $4,200 per academic year.
What can I apply?
Scholarship applications are accepted on a rolling basis; however priority is given to students who apply from May 1 to August 31 for the upcoming academic year.
How do I apply?
You can apply for a Foundation scholarship through the online application which is available at www.laguardia.edu/scholarships.
Filing your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) first at www.fafsa.ed.gov can increase your chances of receiving a Foundation scholarship award.
Application Requirements
Write a personal statement.
To apply, submit a personal statement (minimum 200 words) describing your financial need, academic and career goals, accomplishments and background. After you have submitted your Foundation scholarship application you will receive a confirmation via your student email and your My LaGuardia page.
Claim your award.
If awarded, you will receive an award letter via your student email account and your My LaGuardia page. Once you receive your award letter, you will have five (5) business days to accept/decline the award.
Thank your donor.
You will have a chance to thank your donor for their generosity by providing a thank you letter to share your experiences and how the scholarship(s) will help you meet your academic goals.
Attend the scholarship orientation.
You will be required to attend one orientation meeting where you will be recognized for your achievement and provided with important information about your scholarship.
Emergency funding is available to students who have an unexpected, short-term hardship.
The Foundation has a number of scholarships available to assist you with the rising cost of tuition, textbooks, and transportation fees associated with attending college.
LaGuardia Community College Foundation Scholarships are made possible by contributions from generous donors who believe that deserving students like you should have a quality education without financial burden.
